Electronic audio circuits

This workshop will introduce participants to the possibilities of creating sound and music with simple electronic circuits. This is designed to be an introduction to the theme for persons with little or no experience building electronic circuits or programming microcontrollers. Through a series of practical exercises participants will learn to build their own audio devices and perform together.

Schedule

Monday April 28 - Friday May 2 5 sessions- 3 hours each

Location:

To Be Announced!

Syllabus

Day 1 - Square wave to heaven

An introduction to the mighty 555 timer as a simple electronic oscillator for generating sounds.

Use the Arduino to produce square wave oscillators and read values from external sensors.

Day 2 - Master of circuits

Use the Arduino as a sequencer or envelope generator to control external oscillator circuits.

Day 3 - Midi Vanilli

Use the Arduino to build your own midi interface to communicate with other software or devices.

Learn to read button and switch values as well as other interface mechanisms.

Day 4 - Get Bent

Bring your own toys! Basic circuit bending techniques for summoning the inner noise from your consumer electronics.

Add another dimension by using the Arduino to control device hacks.

Day 5 - Open Jam

Divide into groups and improvise a few IC-core sets. http://libreyabierto.cc/s/dublin.html
